31 Day Blog Challenge
The Challenge
I joined a blog challenge. It’s crazy, I know. I’ve only just started my blog and already I’m hard on myself for not blogging more. For not being consistent.
Several years ago, I joined a challenge to write a novel in 30 days. That was crazy, too. I did succeed in meeting the challenge. Is my novel any good? Nope. Did I learn anything? You bet. I learned that I can face a blank screen and concur my fears. I can set goals and meet them. And, I can finish a novel. It isn’t publishing worthy now. I may or may not return to it and edit it. That was never the point of the exercise for me. I enjoyed the process of writing and the simple joy of writing.
Finding Time
You see, I’m retired from my “day job”. I should have the time, right? And I do. Yet, I don't. It seems my days lack the structure that occurred naturally with a day job. I'm not using my time efficiently or effectively. We all get the same twenty-four hours every day.
Just the other day, a friend and I were discussing "having time". I called it the “I have time” phenomena. It occurred to me that what I need is a workable routine to follow. For me, having a routine provides structure to my day and a way to make the most of it.
The Goal
My goal is not just posting to my blog every day. On a more personal level my goal is to bring structure to my whole day and make progress on my other goals, too.
Welcome to Day 1 and follow me on this journey.
