Halloween Happenings
Things are getting spooky here at The Hutch. I pulled all the Halloween fabric from my stash which included a 10" precut pack, a fat-eighth pack, and some yardage.
Spooky Lane Pillows
From the fat-eighth pack I created the fronts for two Halloween pillows I'm calling Spooky Lane. The pattern is from Moda University. Hosted by Patched Works in Elm Grove, Moda University is a club program run by the owner, Julie Karasek. It's a fun and inspiring program so, if you live in the area, check it out.
All Around Halloween
My current WIP (Work in Progress) is a Halloween quilt, because who doesn’t need a Halloween quilt? I used the 10" pre-cut pack and the Missouri Star Quilt Company pattern HST Around the World. I'm calling it All Around Halloween.
While this looks like an easy project, the technique to create the half-square triangles from the 10" precuts places ALL of the seams on the bias grain. Since the bias grain stretches the most, you have to be careful to avoid distorting the fabric as you sew. It's important to be aware of this should you decide to make this pattern.
Halloween Placemats
The August project from the long arm skills training I'm working on is a set of four placemats. I decided to use the yardage I have to make Halloween placemats. So far, I have finished two of them. Actually, I'm making a total of eight; two of each design. And, there are three of them done. Now I'll have to plan something ghoulish for dinner.
This Week
On the long arm, I'm finishing my quilt, Civil War Tribute. This is a pattern by Red Crinoline Quilts (formerly Bonnie Blue Quilts). I love the fabrics from this time period and have a significant amount of these prints in my stash. I must confess that I have more than a few UFO's (Unfinished Objects) for quilts using Civil War prints.
And, of course, I'll be finishing the last two placemats andAll Around Halloween.
