Simple Design – Stunning Results
I had the pleasure of quilting this top for my customer, Debbie. She gave me permission to talk about it here.
The Prints
I just love this quilt because the simple pattern is perfect for showing off the beautiful prints from Amy Butler’s “Night Music” collection.
When I asked Debbie for details on her quilt, she said “Ican't take credit for the pattern choice or fabric. I copied it from a gal (Kris King Fenn) whois a member of the online Facebook group I'm in, ‘Kimberly's Stitch Squad.’ Shewas kind enough to share the details for me.”
The Pattern
Kris’ decision to select a simple pattern makes the most of the print collection she selected. It shows that you don’t have to make a complicated quilt to achieve stunning results. The Long Arm Quilting
The quilt appears to be straight-line quilting in the picture. For Debbie's quilt, I selected a pattern called “Diagonal Plaid” from Urban Elementz. Since the pattern features rectangles and not squares, I elongated the design into more of a diamond shape. The pattern stitches out easy and relatively fast which I didn’t expect with all the points (Patterns with points usually take much longer to stitch out than curved patterns.) This design, in this density, is an E2E, Light (.02 per square inch).
Happy Results
Initially set to arrive on Tuesday, I received this note from Debbie on Tuesday morning:
“Hi Mary! USPS delivered my quilt last evening. What a nice surprise! I LOVE it!! The quilt design is perfect! Thanks so much. Rollie [her husband] can't get over the fact that you fit that large quilt in that size box. Me either!! I'm knee deep in prepping for Thanksgiving. Enjoy the holiday! ?”
