A Day of Progress
It was a good day yesterday. The rain held off until overnight, so I had a full day to move each of my projects forward, including working with SusieQ. Only the borders are left to complete on this little beauty.
Later today I plan to start another small quilt with SusieQ. I'll also finish assembling Home Town Heroes. I like the way Home Town Heroes is turning out. It's a fast easy quilt however it isn't very large. I'm considering adding some borders just to make it a little bigger.
PSA - Shop Local
I'm looking forward to the openings of my local quilt shops. One has been open since March 18th but with limited hours. Another store plans to open June 1st and will require masks and limit the number of customers in the store at one time. The third hasn't announced an opening date yet, however, they have been holding online shop days with curbside pick-up.
Please take some time to assess the situation in your area and then shop your local quilt shops. The COVID-19 stay-at-home orders have been particularly hard on small businesses. Those of us that enjoy quilting need to do our part to support these shops. We need to be there for them, so they can be there for us.
#The100DayProjectMysteryQuilt
Welcome to day 40. Wow! It's already day forty. Just ten more days to the half-way point. Today's block is Double Dutch. This is a 6" block.
Double Dutch - This block is an interesting take on the Dutchman's Puzzle block. The center Dutchman's Puzzle is surrounded with a partial larger Dutchman's Puzzle. There are several ways to use color on this block to achieve different looks. By shifting the placement of lights, mediums, and darks, emphasis shifts from the flying geese units to a pinwheel. Don't be afraid to try something different!
I found this block in Marsha McCloskey's Block Party book (McCloskey, 1998).
Are you planning any new projects?
Until next time,
