A Walk in the Park

My energy level was low all day yesterday. To some extent it may be the desire to get out. To another extent it was forgetting my thyroid medication in the morning…oops. As an introvert, and naturally inclined to stay home, the stay-at-home order had almost no impact on my daily life. Yet, even I like to get out in nature to walk and run for fun.

I've been reading the book Free to Focus by Michael Hyatt. In the first chapter he mentions the importance of Rejuvenation. Even a short 15 minute walk in nature can renew and refresh the spirit. I walk every day with Kona, but I think I needed something more.

Friendship

You can always count on your good friends to know just what you need. My good friend and run/walk/run buddy is Patty. We regularly run/walk/run but with the COVID-19 stay-at-home order, our habit was side-lined when the parks closed, and the stay-at-home order was issued. We had other things to worry about too.

This morning, Patty came to my rescue. The parks are open, the rain has stopped for at least a day and we went to our favorite park and walked. Four miles today. It was refreshing and yes, rejuvenating. We kept our 6 foot distance and followed the park guidelines. We also talked, enjoyed the day, and each other's company. Now we need to get back on track and return to our regularly scheduled run/walk/runs.

Making Blocks

I spent most of yesterday making quilt blocks. Sometimes working on something simple is another "just what I need to do" thing. Working on easy blocks, like the ones for Heartland Express, allows me to relax and still get something done. I only have four more to make and then it will be time to put it together.

Welcome to day 31. The block is Eliza's Nine Patch. This block is a combination of the nine patch block and a star. You may notice it is remarkably similar to Dolly Madison's star, however, in this block the nine patch is placed on-point. I found Eliza's Nine Patch in Marsha McCloskey's Block Party (McCloskey, 1998)

Until next time,
