Challenge Progress - 3 Weeks Done

Wow, I'm already three weeks into the challenge and have amassed a nice pile of completed blocks. This is one of those projects that will just sit if you don't keep moving it forward. Just one block a day. Note: there are 116 blocks in this quilt so it will run just a bit longer than 100 days.

Moving Projects Forward

Schedule Progress

It is amazing how much progress you can make when you work on something a bit at a time. Whether it's writing a book, learning something new or making a quilt, a small amount of work on it, every day, slowly moves the project to done.

Even just a short amount of time, say 15 minutes a day, can move a project toward done. It's the commitment to making progress that makes the difference. If you have a project you've been wanting to get to but haven't, trying breaking it into daily tasks and then tackle it -- just one task a day!

I've been wanting to make this quilt for years. I've been collecting the blocks and even started creating a few of the patterns but it wasn't more than a pile of fabric and a few files on my computer. Then, I made a comment to the project, and myself, to start the project. Now, look how much I've done!

SusieQ and Me

Today, I've blocked out two "Power Blocks" for time with SusieQ. We're working on the Halloween HST quilt. I'm ready to finish mounting it on the frame and I have a plan for the quilting design. I'll share our progress tomorrow.

Power Blocks

Power Blocks are a block of time set aside to concentrate on a specific project or task. They can be 30-90 minutes. The amount of time is dependent on you and how you work. Time can also vary by the type of project. The important thing is that the time is concentrated effort, focused on the task you are working on. It is very important to remove all distractions so that you can devote your attention to the project. I learned about Power Blocks from Bonnie Christine's Skillshare class - Focus to Flourish.

#The100DayProjectMysteryQuilt

It's day 22!! We start the next week of #The100DayProjectMysteryQuilt with the block Hourglass. This block is also known as Mrs. Lacy's Choice. Both names were used by Nancy Page in her newspaper columns. Hourglass in the Nashville Banner, January 30, 1934* and Mrs. Lacy's Choice in the Birmingham News, on April 6, 1943*.
