Favorite Color – Teal
If you've been following my blog, you may have noticed that purple makes frequent appearances in my quilts. And yet, teal is my favorite color. And, maybe a little coral. Well, if I'm honest about it, I love all colors.
Love of Color
I think color is one of the things about fabric and quiltingthat attracts me to the craft. As a child my favorite toy wasn't exactly a toy.It was a box of crayons and a pad of paper. My mom encouraged my art work andalways had a ready supply of paints, crayons, markers and other craftingsupplies available for me to use.
My Teal Projects
I completed the Moda Modern Building Blocks quilt (pictured above) using the fabric collection Elementary by Sweetwater for Moda. The pattern showed the quilt in a range of solid colors. When I saw the Elementary line and knew instantly I wanted to make my quilt from those fabrics. I love this quilt and the colors work well with the colors in my Master bedroom. Right now my quilt is out on loan. It is usually displayed on a quilt rack since my dog, Kona, likes to sleep on my bed. This quilt is too nice to allow her to sleep on it.
The second project I've mentioned before; my Hoop Sister quilt called Sewn Seeds. That one is still in WIP status (Work in Progress). Though I haven't worked on it since 2014, I don't have the heart to call it a UFO because I'm technically still "working on it". My definition of WIP vs UFO is extremely fluid and subject to change whenever I feel like it.
A Coral Project
Disappearing Pinwheel Twist is a quilt I made from a Missouri Star Quilt Co. pattern and a 10" Layer cake. It was fast to piece together. I just love the colors and prints from the Hazel & Plum Collection by Fig Tree Quilts for Moda. It isn't all coral but there is a lot of coral in it. I took this quilt off the long arm a couple days ago. Now it just needs the binding.
What is your favorite color? Why is it your favorite?
