Getting Back to Projects
Kona wanted to show off her new bandana from Auntie Linda. Kona loves to wear bandanas. We also picked up a few hanging flower baskets when making a quick stop at the hardware store for a replacement part for the refrigerator. After that, I made a few more masks. Now, I am back to working on projects. My UFO, Sew Many Ways, is still on my design board. What are you currently working on?
UFOs
My Sew Many Ways quilt is waiting patiently for me to return to her. The next steps include cutting the sashing fabric and assembling the quilt top. My plans for the single block at the side are to either make a pillow or a small wall hanging to practice the long arm designs before I work on the quilt top.
Once I have the top assembled I'll need to make some decisions about the border. Whether there will be one or two, how I will place them and so on. I'm very undecided about the borders so I'm going to wait and see what this quilt tells me she wants, once the top is assembled. I usually select straight-horizontal; however, this quilt might be a good candidate for mitered borders. The print I selected for the sashing is a border print and the main print of the sashing border would lend itself well to a mitered border. What do you think?

Day 2: I posted the first block yesterday; Key West. Today's block is Cake Stand. At a guild meeting many years ago, a member explained that the block represents a cake, on a cake stand with candles on it. Do you see it?
This block appeared in Ladies Art Company in 1887*. It was called Altar Candles by Nancy Page in the Birmingham News on July 14, 1942 and Basket by Laura Wheeler in the Cincinnati Enquirer on December 29, 1933.*
