Happy Juneteenth!

Juneteenth is June 19th every year. It celebrates the end of slavery in the US.

Though Abraham Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation January 1st, 1863 and the Civil War ended May 9th, 1865, Texas somehow didn't get the memo. June 19th, 1865 marks the day when more than 1,800 troops arrived in Texas to free the remaining enslaved people in Texas.

Today we celebrate an important date in American History.

Celebration Quilt

The "Celebration" quilt is a wall hanging panel quilt. The panel is a print of American Artist, Keith Mallett's painting "Celebration". This beautiful painting depicts three women dancing joyfully. Please check out Keith Mallett's website to view more of his work.

Ready for Binding

Today I completed quilting the Irish Chain quilt. It's ready for the binding. I also completed the first of four "Celebration" quilts. Tomorrow I will work on the other three. I'll also be working on more blocks for the 100 Day project.

#The100DayProjectMysteryQuilt

Art Square – This block is a variation of the "Diamond in a Square" block. The setting triangles are divided into a square and two triangles.
