It's Memorial Day Weekend

Memorial Day is a United States holiday for remembering the people who died while serving in this country’s armed forces. In these unprecedented times I find myself reflecting, more than ever, on the sacrifices made by those who serve to ensure I live in freedom.

A good friend of my dad's flew not one, but two, bombing runs over the beaches of Normandy on D-day. When he spoke to me about his experience, I told him he was a hero. He corrected me. He said the real heroes that day were on the ground and, many of them never made it home.

We had that conversation more than two decades ago. I still tear-up when I think about it. He, more than anyone, helped me understand why we need to pause on this day. Pause to say "Thank You" to those who gave all.

Quilting Plans

Since my family gathering is not happening this year, I'll be spending the day quilting with SusieQ and Stella. I hope to finish Halloween HST today. I'll also spend some time working on Heartland Express and blocks for #The100DayProjectMysteryQuilt

#The100DayProjectMysteryQuilt

Welcome to day 33. Today's block is Dutchman's Puzzle. A popular block, that has many different names. I've listed just a few of them here. Change the look by making the four center triangles a different color to create a pinwheel.
