It's Saturday, Fun Day!
Even with the Stay-at-home order in effect, I've managed to keep my Saturdays the same. Saturdays have always been devoted to quilting. When I worked full time, it was the only day I had available in my schedule to devote to my quilting. It's nice to have something that stayed the same.
Plans for Today
Sew Many Ways has been waiting patiently on my design wall and today we will work on getting her finished! The backing is ready to go so the only thing left is to join the blocks with the sashing and add the borders.
I'm still not sure if the border will be a floral pattern or the border print with mitered corners. What do you think? Mitered border print or horizontal border with a print fabric?
#The100DayProjectMysteryQuilt
Block 5 for the #The100DayProjectMysteryQuilt is Dolly Madison's Star. I remember writing a book report in Fourth Grade and it was about Dolly Madison. I think that's why she is one of my favorite First Ladies.
The wife of the fourth President of the United States, James Madison, she is known for hosting parties where she invited people from both sides of the political aisle. She was fostering bipartisanship before it was called bipartisanship. Through her parties and hostess skills she began to define the role of the First Lady.
She is also known for is saving the Stuart portrait of George Washington as the British advanced on the White House during the War of 1812. As the story goes, she directed her slaves to cut the portrait from the frame since that portrait had been bolted to the wall.
That's all for now. My sewing room is calling me. Enjoy your weekend.
Until next time,
