Making Progress
It was a good day yesterday. My plan had three things to accomplish and I accomplished all three!
Back to Quilting
After using my long arm to make masks in March and most of April, Susie Q is back to quilting. I started by mounting the backing for the Pink and Brown Triangle quilt. Then, I stepped back to look at it and realized I mounted it horizontal and not vertical. Oh duh! Since I'm using a Baptist fan quilting design, I wanted to make sure I mounted the backing vertically. At least I noticed it before I started basting the top. No harm done, just wasted time.
Paisley Play
I also spent time drawing and playing with paisley designs. Plus, I created a few fantasy flowers. I remember my mom had a blue and white dress with huge paisley designs. It was an A-line design with a yoke. Hey, it was the 1960s. Very mod. I was fascinated with it. My mom said that one day, she caught me with tracing paper and a pencil, tracing the paisleys on the dress.
I'm still fascinated by the design style, so it was fun to play with creating my own. Here are a few of my doodles.
#The100DayProjectMysteryQuilt
And yes, I also made progress on my #The100DayProjectMysteryQuilt.
Day 9: Block 9 for the #The100DayProjectMysteryQuilt is Mosaic No. 2* and is a 3" block. When I was looking for information on this block, I found two completely different blocks with this same name. The version I selected is from Ladies Art Company, 1897†. In Jinny Beyer's book, it is also named Mosaic No. 8 (Nancy Cabot, Chicago Tribune, September 1, 1924).
I find the naming conventions of blocks so interesting. There is no system and same block designs often have multiple names. And, block names are used multiple times for completely different blocks. Mosaic No 2 is a block that has multiple names for the same block design and the same name is used for multiple block designs. Regardless of what it is named, I think this is a cute little block.

What are you working on? How is your progress?
Until next time,
