Project Progress

It's another gray day here in Missouri. The days are getting shorter, too. I know they've been getting shorter for about three months now, but there is always one day in the fall where it hits me. I love all the seasons, so the changing weather doesn't bother me. I just don't like the whole shorter day thing.

Winter Star

Between getting chores and errands done yesterday, I managed to carve time out for working with SusieQ. We're still working on Winter Star. This is the custom practice quilt I've been working on the last couple days.

I decided to place a line fill pattern in the background of the star blocks. Line patterns are tricky because you need to position them straight or they'll just look wrong. The piecing needs to be straight as well. There are minor adjustments you can make to help the piecing appear straighter if it is off. This where the skill building comes in.

Overall, I'm pleased with my line work. I also placed the rest of the leaves in the red background of the center star. Today I plan to take some time to quilt out the remaining red background squares. If time allows, I'll work on the center star.

Rest the Day

Other than that, I have more errands to get done today. I'll also be spending part of the day checking out the Adobe Max conference.

What are you working on today?

Until till next time,
