Roses are Red…
The buds on my rose bush are starting to open. This year there are so many buds. I had three rose bushes, but one died last fall and one wasn't looking so good. This year the sick one is looking much better. The only healthy one is huge this year and doing very well. I guess the rose food last fall helped.
Long Arm Day
To the extent that the rain and thunderstorms hold off, I'll be working with SusieQ on my Halloween HST quilt today. Once the storms roll in, I'll transition to finishing up a pattern I'm writing. I'm looking forward to sharing it with you. My "other" project is getting a shop set up on my website.
#The100DayProjectMysteryQuilt
It's day 29 and today's block is Courthouse Steps. This block is a variation of the Log Cabin. There are several styles of log cabin blocks but generally they fall into two categories.
When the opposite sides are light or dark on the block, they fall in the Courthouse steps category. When two adjacent sides are light or dark, they fall in the Log Cabin category.
We'll be adding a few more log cabin style blocks as we work through the 100 days. For now, this variation, with a four-patch at the center, is from Marsha McCloskey's Block Party, book. (McCloskey, 1998)
