Yeah, it's Monday!
I'm excited that it's Monday. Not so much because of the day but because I'm getting my hair done today. My salon is open, and my stylist is ready. Of course, they are opening under COVID-19 guidelines for a "soft-opening." I have no issues with following the guidelines. As things start to open-up in my state, I do plan to take it easy and go slow.
More Progress
I'll be working on quilting my Halloween HST quilt this week. I'm up to the part where the central design begins to take shape. This is an exciting part of the quilting process. The quilt starts to show its personality and beauty.
And, I may start another project, however I'm admittedly conflicted about it. I really should focus on finishing things. But my fabric is calling me…
While I'm figuring out what to do, I'm going to work on Heartland Express. If I make two baby quilts from what I have, I only need 4 more blocks to finish one of them. I also have time to decide on whether it will be one larger quilt or two smaller quilts. Decisions ahead. In the meantime, make blocks.
#The100DayProjectMysteryQuilt
It's day 28 and today's block is Sun Rays. You may be getting the idea by now that I like star blocks. And, you would be right!
The thing that makes this star block special is the angle of the "rays" in relation to the Diamond-in-square in the center. Because of this angle relationship, this block creates a circular effect when placed block to block in a quilt even though there are no curved pieces in the block. The ring is even more noticeable with the blocks placed "on-point." On-point means the block is rotated 45° so that it appears as a diamond instead of a square. Pretty cool.
