UFO Friday

Made it to another Friday and that means it is UFO time!! (UFO = Unfinished Object) I've been devoting time every Friday to spending time on quilts in my UFO stash. I try to get at least two hours of work on these projects. Sallie's Quilt is nearly complete. One more border to sew.

Heartland Express

After reviewing my UFO stash, I've decided to work on Heartland Express next. I started this one back in 1998. I no longer remember who I was making it for or what my plan was for this quilt. I was either planning to make two of them or just making a larger one. I say this because I made eight of the engine blocks and the pattern only calls for four engines.

Regardless of what I decide, I need to make more of the "car" blocks. There are only three heart cars and one heart cars completed. The pattern calls for several two heart and four heart cars as well. This one will keep me busy for at least the next two months.

The pattern is from House of White Birches. It is long out of print though you might find a copy on eBay or Etsy. I know the pattern was sold as an individual pattern in the early 2000's. I acquired my copy when I wrote some book reviews for a publisher of quilt books and they sent me this little book as a "thank you" gift.

#The100DayProjectMysteryQuilt

It's day 25 and it's the one-quarter mark! I'm "sew" excited that I've make it this far. Today's block is Turnstile. I like this block because it's an easy one and I needed a bit of a break.

This block probably has even more names than any other we've made so far. It appeared as Turnstile in Ladies Art Company, 1897. It is also known as:

Pinwheel – Ruby McKim, 1931
Whirlwind
The Patchwork Book, 1932
Wind Mill – Carrie Hall, 1935
