Beautiful Day for a Walk

It is just beautiful here today. The sun is shining, and I went for a walk before the temps got too hot. Kona thinks walks are the best thing in life. When people were posting that their dogs were getting too tired to walk, Kona never tired of walking. If I get anywhere near the hook where her leash hangs, she is right there and ready to go.

Long Arm Day

I made great progress on the King quilt yesterday. I thought I would only get it basted; however, I completed the top border for all three borders plus four of the squares. There are seven squares in a row and seven rows, plus three borders. I was not surprised by how long each border took to stitch-out. As I said yesterday, this one will take a while. I know it is going to be gorgeous once it’s done.

Polish border (peach), Greek Key (white dot), Celtic knot (block)

The quilt is a Triple Irish Chain. The quilting designs are a combination of Celtic knots and Greek designs. However, since there are three borders, I snuck in a border pattern inspired by a piece of Polish pottery of mine. My cousin made the quilt top for her and her husband. He is mostly Irish, and she is mostly Polish and Greek. She is related to me on the Polish side.

Welcome to day 53. The block is Grecian Square. It is a 3” block. This block reminds me of the tile floors of Greece. It is purely coincidence that I would be talking about my Greek family and today’s block is Grecian square. Like I said before, the sequence of the blocks was worked out about four years ago.
