Getting Back to My Routine

I've spent the last couple of days just relaxing. Well, that and doing laundry and reorganizing my workspace after my visitors were here. I've been taking it slow. I also have a couple customer projects to work on in the coming days.

Long Arm Projects

The weather has not been cooperating with my long arm plans. Too many electrical storms in the area and it looks like we have more coming into the area for the next week. Progress will be on and off for me. My plan is to work on smaller projects in the queue during this time.

A Weekend Project

One of the projects my friend Helen was working on during her visit was a "Quilt-as-You-Go" placemat project. The concept is to layer the backing, batting, and pieced fabric in one unit. Add pieces and stitch through all three layers to create the project. When done, the item is pieced and quilted so only the binding needs to be added. There are a number of projects available in this format.

The package includes batting with printed lines for placing the fabric strips. A set of a table runner and six placements need one 2.5" strip fabric roll and about 2 yards of fabric for the backing.

During the early stages of COVID-19, I had purchased two table runners and two packs for placemats. I have June Taylor's, Jakarta Table Runner and Jakarta Placements. Many local quilt shops carry them. You can also use the links in this blog post.

My intent is to make a Christmas set and a Halloween set. I found a Moda Jelly Roll, The Christmas Card, and fabric for the backing. I started the table runner late yesterday and I'm more than halfway finished with the piecing. It is a great quick and easy project.

#The100DayProjectMysteryQuilt

Continuing the 100 Day Project blocks, Day 94 of The 100 Day Project Mystery Quilt is Star Stairway. This is a 3" block.

A variation of the 'Ohio Star', this block adds 4-patch units diagonally through the star.
