Just a Bit

I'm easing back. Still listening, still learning. I've added a few titles to my reading list. All are wait-listed at the library, so I know I'm not alone in my learning mode. In a way, that is comforting. Rather than wait, I will likely purchase a few in the coming days.

Kona and I took a walk before sitting down to write. She did not want to cooperate with providing a photo for this post. Her mind was on her rope toy.

Keith Mallet

One of my all-time favorite American Artists is Keith Mallet. I fell in art-love with his work in the early 2000s. Please check-out his website. It won't disappoint.

Mr. Mallet created a painting, called "Celebration", that hooked me. It depicts three women dancing in celebration. The joy, the movement, the colors; it makes me want to dance. In 2005, I wondered into a fabric store and was giddy with excitement when I saw fabric panels of "Celebration" along with coordinating prints.

I purchased four panels and several yards of the coordinates not knowing what I would do with them. It's just that I love them and knew someday I would make a quilt, or four, with them.

An Idea

So yesterday, I had an idea. That I can make those four quilts and make them available to my FOCs (Friends of Color) for them to use in fundraising activities in the organizations they work with. They can auction them, raffle them, or just sell them and use the proceeds to benefit their organization.

I'm making them available for donation. Please email me (mary@marysarthutch.com) with your story, organization and proposed use. Hopefully, I will hear from at least three of you. If I hear from all of you, I'll have to figure something out, but that's what we quilters do, we figure things out. My intention is to complete these four by July 31st and send them out in early August.

And now for day 43. Today's block is Criss Cross. This is a 3" block.

Criss Cross -  This simple block is the perfect alternate block in a quilt to create a trellis affect. Or, when used by itself, a Criss Cross grid.
