Making Plans

I've started making some plans for later this year. Some or all may get cancelled, especially if there is a second wave of Covid-19 or some other thing, I get it. But I’m making plans. September is Southern Belle in Arkansas, early October is Immersion Live in South Carolina, late October is Thread of Success in Texas and November is The Packers vs da Bears in Wisconsin. I'm going for it. My new saying is "Have mask, will Travel."

Oh, and the dental appointment went great. No more pain. There is a little discomfort but nothing like it was. I'm a happy camper again.

UFO Friday

Sallie"s Quilt

Friday is UFO day and I'm working on "Sallie's Quilt". That's the name of the pattern. It's out of print so I don't have a link to share. I've changed the border completely. This is one of my "oops there's a problem with the border, so I'll add it to the UFO pile" quilts. I simply do not have enough of the print for the border.

My initial solution was to make 12 Ohio Star blocks, three for each corner but that still isn't enough. I think I only need two more of the Ohio Star blocks to make it work. And, I found enough of the various prints to make two more blocks, yeah! I plan to insert them in the center of the top and bottom borders. So, this is my project for today.

At the right is the plan I've worked up in Creative Studio®. It's a general plan and will likely change on the quilt but at least I've worked out a guide to get me started. I'm looking forward to seeing how it turns out.

I also mounted Halloween HST on SusieQ and if I have the time, I'll start quilting this one.

#The100DayProjectMysteryQuilt

It's 18 day and the block is Diamond in a Square. This block is deceptively easy looking. It can be tricky getting those corner triangles to line up properly to create a square block. I've read many techniques and even own a special ruler to help make a square block. My solution is still, make the corner triangles larger and trim the block to the correct size. For this one, I paper-pieced it since this is a paper-piecing project.

This block is from Ladies Art Company, 1897*
